VAKE PATHFINDER
Monitor the tracks of specific ships - confirm AIS positions and fill in the gaps from periods of dark activity, through machine-learning ship detections.
VAKE PATHFINDER is a service for following the tracks of specific ships, even in periods of outage of the AIS transciever. Through data fusion of AIS tracks, and ship detections from Sentinel 1 & Sentinel2, it is possible to fetch accurate vessel information & imagery of specific ships, and look for the ship in dark periods, using overlapping satellite coverage.
Illegal fishing, asset protection, and environmental crimes are maritime challenges faced by governments and businesses worldwide. The sea's vastness and the ships' limited traceability create large information gaps, adding to the complexity of these challenges. Satellite images could fill in some of the blanks, but the images are just as vast as the oceans themselves. Getting actionable insights from this data is laborious work – this is where we come in.
