FBK is the top Research Institute in Italy, ranked at the 1st place for scientific excellence within 3 different subject areas and for the economic and social impact according to the latest quality of research ANVUR evaluation.
Being the result of a history that is more than half a century old, through 2 scientific hubs, one dedicated to technology and innovation and one to human and social sciences, more than 400 researchers, FBK aims to results of excellence in science and technology with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches and to the applicative dimension.
The institute of FBK that contributes to AI4EU project is the Center for Information Technology. The Bruno Kessler Center in Information and Communication Technology (FBK-ICT Irst Center) focuses on high quality research with impact to market and society.

Description of our AI activities
FBK-ICT (formerly called IRST) is an internationally renowned center established in 1986 for conducting research on Artificial Intelligence (AI). It was the first center in Italy fully dedicated to AI. FBK ICT is the Italian research center most recognized internationally in the field of AI.
In our thirty years of experience, we have been at the forefront of research on artificial vision, language processing, speech, machine learning, predictive models, automated planning and acting, knowledge representation, formal methods, intelligent user interfaces.
Overall goal of our research: understanding and realizing cognitive processes and constructing engineered systems that implement intelligent functions
