What is the challenge that is being addressed?

The conflict areas are very hard to reach especially when the conflict is ongoing. Using Earth Observation in an innovative way through the AI algorithm, and using it to assess the environmental damage in conflict zones can help magnify the underlying humanitarian, peace and security implications and better understand any conflict-driven environmental damage.

What is the AI solution the project has implemented?

The AI solution is the Super-Resolution algorithm that can enhance the resolution of the Sentinel-2 data making it easier to extract environmental damages parameters, information that is very useful in the humanitarian aid, climate and environmental sector.

Who helped implement the AI solution?

This solution is implemented in the context of SR4C3, a winning project from the AI4Copernicus 1st Open Call. The consortium consists of SISTEMA and CMC, while the results of the project are available here and here.
