Instituto Superior Técnico, the largest Engineering School of the country, aims to contribute to the development of society, promoting and sharing excellence in higher education in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, Science and Technology. Técnico offers Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes, lifelong training and develops Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) activities, which are essential to provide an education based on the top international standards.

AI Activities

Founded in 1911 as an autonomous institution, IST's mission was to promote the technological and economical development of the country. To the traditional areas of Engineering, IST created strong competences in basic sciences (Mathematics, Physics) and more recently in Life Sciences, Architecture and Biology.

Research in AI at IST is developed in associated institutes and spread along the multiple areas of application and targeting the major problems of modernity.

IST participates in AI4EU through Instituto de Sistemas e Robótica and the team is involved in WP7 and leaders of Task 7.5 "Physical AI"
