INRIA

Inria is a French public research establishment dedicated to computational sciences, and is the primary contact point for the French Government on the computational sciences, including artificial intelligence. With 8 research centres and its 183 project teams, Inria has a workforce of 2 400 scientists with an annual budget of 231 million euros, 25% of which coming from its own resources.

Description of our AI activities

Inria has the role of State Operator to support public policies on Artificial Intelligence in France, with the aim of making France a leader in AI. Inria provides proposals and coordinates operators of supported initiatives, while providing scientific and technological expertise. Above all, the Inria promotes the development of higher education, research, and innovation ecosystems for digital sciences and technology in France.

Inria oveseas the “3IA” network of four interdisciplinary institutes for Artificial Intelligence chosen to structure training and research programs dedicated to AI in France

Inria develops international cooperation initiatives, in particular with Germany, and seeks to increase the economic impact of public research by founding and supporting start-ups through the Startup Studio.
