FlexiGroBots - Moving objects detection, location, and tracking
This application enhances agricultural safety by facilitating collaboration between human operators and autonomous robots on the same land sections simultaneously. Addressing the increasing need for robotic solutions in agriculture due to labor shortages and economic efficiency, it focuses on adding safety layers and enhancing robot perception of their surroundings.
This tool is a component of the European project, Flexigrobots. It consists of various models that together provide services for detecting, locating, and tracking moving objects in agricultural environments. Users can utilize this service through Docker technology, accessible in a public GitHub repository associated with this application.
The model, validated using reserved images, shows high accuracy in key classes related to agriculture like 'tractors'. During contrinuous training improvements a Continuous an overall Mean Average Precision (mAP) of 0.6137 was reached. The tool's real-time application is confirmed through efficient processing times, even when using cloud services. It can accurately track elements and issue alerts, with potential future enhancements to include estimating objects' trajectories. This tool is pivotal in agricultural settings, aiding collaboration between robots and humans.
