Want to TALKaBOTit? We just published our co-creation board game!

We just published our co-creation board game free to download and use from our website. The game is called TALKaBOTit and it is a fun and interactive discussion tool that serves as a free tool for robotics companies and researchers to evaluate the societal and ethical aspects of their robotic solutions in collaboration with potential end-users and stakeholders. The game is designed to facilitate active listening and creative dialogue. The goal of the game is to co-create ideas for improvements that can make for a smoother implementation of your robot.

Body

The board game is our latest version of the one we developed and used at our four co-creation workshops last year with developers, companies, and users. After great feedback and interest from the participants, we decided to do one last round of improvements to the game and bundle it into a free version that everyone can use.

What is the goal of the game?

The game is a discussion tool meant to assist you in assessing different aspects of societal acceptance of a specific robotic solution. The game aims to help both developers and end-users contribute their considerations within six different topics. The aim of this exercise is to collaboratively think about potential difficulties and problems that might be associated with the development of the robot, and discuss what possible solutions there might be to the problems identified.

Who is the game for?

The game serves as a free tool for robotics companies and researchers to evaluate the societal and ethical aspects of their robotic solutions in collaboration with potential end-users and stakeholders. We suggest gathering a diverse group of 4–8 people, including individuals from within the company or project developing the robot, as well as external participants such as potential end-users and key stakeholders. Additionally, the game can function as an internal tool for reflective discussion within the organisation or project, particularly if end-users or stakeholders are unavailable.

How can I play?

The game and rulebook are freely available to download in a digital file format. Once downloaded, you just have to print the materials, cut out the question cards, and then you are all set. Find all the materials here.

As you embark on this journey, we invite you to embrace the spirit of collaboration and exploration that defines the Robotics4EU project. Together, let us keep paving the way for a future where robotics aligns with the values and needs of society.

Let the game begin.
