Policy Hour

Event Details:

New York city council's local law 144 requires employers and agencies working on their behalf to have bias audits in place by 15 April 2023.

The requirement applies to any automated tools used to aid or automate employment decisions. This includes systems based on machine learning, statistical modelling or data analytics and typically includes resume screening, AI video interviews, and game-based or psychometric assessments.

Join us for an in-depth discussion on what these requirements mean in practice. We'll cover the following:

  • The current rules, based on two public hearings and extensive written comments
  • The metrics: how to calculate them, the pitfalls, and challenges
  • Transparency requirements: how to communicate your audit results
  • The broader shift to a risk management approach to AI - Similar rules exist or are under development in the EU and other US states (eg Colorado)
