Łukasiewicz - PIAP is a Research institution with strong commercial branch. It was established in 1965. Currently it has c.a. 300 employees, out of which more than 2/3 are scientists and/or engineers. Łukasiewicz-PIAP is a part of Łukasiewicz Research Network – 3rd biggest research network in Europe, that has >8000 employees in Poland. Our main activity topics include: Mobile robotics, Cyber-physical systems development, Industrial automation, Measurement devices, Rapid prototyping centre. Łukasiewicz - PIAP is main Polish and one of the biggest European producers of IEDD/EOD/CBRN mobile robots and robotic accessories. For more than 25 years we are active in research collaboration for EC (FPs, H2020, Horizon Europe, DIHs, EDF), ESA, EDA and NATO.

Institute carries out research, research & development as well as design and construction work. Extensive research and technical facilities are grouped in the institute’s specialised laboratories, many of which are unique on a national scale and equipped with the latest generation of equipment. As part of R&D activities, Łukasiewicz - PIAP offers access to special-purpose research teams, laboratory infrastructure and networks of cooperating scientific institutions. The organization also provide comprehensive advice as part of the research and implementation path development process and project conceptualisation, as well as support in obtaining, contracting and settling public funds.

Based on the institute's experience, in 2022, the Minister of Science established the Industry Contact Point Industry 4.0, which assists both companies and scientific units in accessing support from Horizon Europe and searching for partners for consortia, as well as promoting activities within European partnerships. Łukasiewicz - PIAP also coordinate Mazovia EDIH project that is the European Digital Innovation Hub for Mazovia, created by a consortium of 10 institutions offering comprehensive support in the digital transformation process. Entities from both the Mazovian region and all over Poland can take advantage of free expert services and modernize the way they produce or provide services in line with current digitization trends. Mazovia EDIH focuses on several main areas of the Digital Europe program, i.e.: artificial intelligence (AI) and decision support, cyber security, high performance computing (HPC), micro and nano optoelectronics; photonics and robotics.
