The University of Groningen is a public research university of more than 30,000 students in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. Founded in 1614, the university is the second oldest in the country and one of the most traditional and prestigious universities in the Netherlands. It offers a truly multidisciplinary perspective on AI with contribution across different faculties and cross-fertilisation of ideas in its Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society, Technology and AI, allowing it to contribute from multiple perspectives, ranging from fundamental developments in basic research on AI, applied AI across different disciplines, and particular attention also on ethical, legal, and societal aspects of the technology.
