There are 41 Faculties and Schools in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki offering all kinds of studies. Every Faculty/School offers an undergraduate degree, postgraduate degrees (2nd cycle and PhD).

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is represented in AI4EU by the Intelligent Systems Lab (ISL) of the School of Informatics.

AI Activities

The Intelligent Systems Laboratory was founded (initially as a research group) in 1993, back then as Logic Programming and Intelligent Systems (LPIS) group, and is part of the Knowledge, Data and Web Engineering Department of the School of Informatics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The lab’s research interests span a wide area of Artificial Intelligence, including Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, Planning, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Logic Programming and the Semantic Web. Latest efforts of the lab are focused on Explainable AI, Question Answering, Ensemble Pruning, Text Summarization, Key Phrase Extraction, etc.

Our faculty and research group will be contributing on the AI4EU project by providing new methods and software about explaining black box models, with ultimate goal to consolidate and strengthen the excellence of explainable AI in Europe.
