In its current form, the chatbot lets users ask questions related to the AI4EU project and the AI terminology in general. It is developed using the deeppavlov open-source conversational framework (https://deeppavlov.ai/) and exploits sentence embedding bert-based models (including a language-agnostic model). 

In addition, for open-domain questions, it exploits a pre-trained Knowledge Base Question Answering model over the Wikidata knowledge base offered by the framework. The chatbot is available as a service (e.g., curl -X POST "https://pangaia.ics.forth.gr/ai4eu-chatbot/" -d "{\"query\":\"What is AI4EU?\"}" ).

In the coming months, FRTH will enrich the chatbot with goal-oriented exploratory search functionality that will be based on the faceted search interaction paradigm. The aim is to provide a guided interaction to identify resources of interest in the AI4EU platform with as few utterances as possible. This functionality will be developed on top of the AI4EU search functionality and will use the AI4EU ontology for describing the platform resources.
