Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision is the production archive for Dutch broadcasters, a media culture museum, and a knowledge institution providing tailored services and public programming for journalists, social sciences and humanities scholars, creative industries, and citizens. The institute has extensive expertise in research & innovation activities that aim to enhance cultural heritage and public media services with AI technologies. This includes projects such as ReTV, Polifonia and most recently, AI4Media. Sound & Vision is one of the core partners of the Cultural AI Lab, a cross-disciplinary team who design socio-technological AI systems that are aware of the subtle and subjective complexity of human culture. Additionally, the institute is leading the Culture and Media working group in the Dutch AI Coalition to develop a common strategy for exploring the opportunities and overcoming negative consequences associated with the use of AI in culture and media.
